At First Sight

Try to watch this film, At First Sight, starring Val Kilmer and Mira Sorvino. It's an old film, but it still worth to watch. The film was based on true story of a Shirl Jennings who in 1991 had his sight restored by operations after 40 years without sight. It wasn't easy though, he has to learn to see from scratch. After the operation, Shirl could see, but he couldn't understand what he was seeing. First he was unable to identified an object without touching them. Have you ever wonder how baby learn to see? How the eyes connect with the brain, try to recognize colours and depth.

After seeing the film, i sometimes close my eyes just to feel the experience of without sight. Just to remind me that there are things that so much to be thank for. I watched the film several times. It also tell the story about the man's family. About his father who left the family cause of his son's blindness and what it had cause. And about his sister who taken care of him since he was a boy. Shirl's story makes me think, am i blind for all this years, have i see what i see?
